With the first successful brewery in Amsterdam, Gerard Adriaan wanted to expand his empire with Heineken in Rotterdam. This happened in the Rotterdam Crooswijk with the opening of a second brewery. The brewery was located on the Rotte, which not only provided good access and transport options but also a large number of water sources. This water source came in handy during the drinking water crisis in Rotterdam in 1963.
History of Heineken: the office building

Next to the brewery, there was also a new office building, grain silo, salt works, and coal transporter; designed by architect Willem Kromhout.
